I think this question is very important for every student who first comes to the U.S. It also includes me. Before I came to the U.S, everyday my parents and I talked about this. I also searched much information on the Internet. In my opinions, I think the best way is living in the apartment.
First, it's free. Everybody has their own life's spare in their country, so they don't want to other people to brother them. If they live in the home stay or host family, their home mother will restrict them. Sometimes it's not good for them to make friends.
Second, it's convenience. Now many apartments include water, electricity, coal and some other fee. It can economize our time to do this. We can use these times to do other things that we very interested it. Some apartments also have gymnasium. We can use it to make our body healthy. Many apartments also have the convenient traffic and comfortable environment.
Finally, it's safety. Many apartments have the safety precautions. For example, many gates must import cipher when people came in. Some floors have the monitors to protect the people.

I agreed with you what you are thinking about Apartment although I’m living in house’s resident now. At this moment, my place doesn’t seem to be an appropriate for me to live, I have many troubles with two other people who are sharing the house like me, for they make a lot of noise during midnight. I think, soon I will move out, and an apartment will be good for me. One other thing, would you like to advise me how to choose a good apartment?

In my opinion, I think the homestay is good for internation students when they are first time to study abroad because they can know what the America culture is, and they can imporve their English.

But if you stay in here for 1 year or more, you can move to apartment because I think to live in others house you have to care of their feelings, and also I think to live in apartment feel more free to do everything! haha I have same problem wiht zen! I want to move out, but I can't because I'm too young to live in apartment.
I will wait my friend when she wants move to an apartment, I will live with her :)
Anyway, I thik homestay will be better for international students who are just coming here.

Hi christina. I'm D. I'm not sure about your question, but I think when you live in apartment, you will have more freedom. In addition, I think it also has some disadvantage for you because nobody care for you if you have sick or someproblem in the social. I think I'm lucky than another student because my host family whom I am living with is very kind. They do not bother me anything but they care about me very much.
I agree with you and I chose to live in an apartment when I was arrived in American too. I want to live alone because I want to know how can I live if I live alone and I how I can still alive. In fact, I am still living in the world, which is hard to believe to myself.
Living in host family is better for me because my listening is too bad now. I want to live with American family to improve my English. Besides, I can ask them about American culture.
I agreed with you. At the first time I came to US, I lived with the host family.When I stayed in Vietnam, I wanted to live with them to inprove my English.My host mother who was a single woman.She was very nice, but we lived in differences cultural. Hence, we had a lot of problem: foods, the ways to live... After 2 months, I moved out and lived with the other host family. However, the host family was Vietnamese. At this time I though my life would be better than the firt time. But life is not as I wanted. I face with the other hard time. In this house, I lived with three grils who are come from Vietnam. We had differences features, so we often agure eachother. Then, I decided to moved out again. And now, I have a peace place in my own apartment.In sum, I think internatonal students should live in their apartment because there are sevaral advance: they have a lot of freedoom, and they can learn how to live indepently
I think the best place for international students to live is host family, because it brings several advantages for them. First, students will be felt safe and comfortable with host family. Mostly, host families are really friendly; always help students when they need. Second, it’s first time for international students who came to USA, host family can take them everywhere they want, show them a lot of good thing in USA and tell them how to avoid dangerous things. Third, the goal of international students is improving English, get good education, social life, so host families are these people can help you a lots about it. I prefer live in the host family than other places.

I think the best place for international students to live is... apartment... Just like you said... they can get more freedom... and it is easy to communicate with your friends... and it also can get help from each other... But a a lot of people think that home stay is the best place to live for international students...TThey can use English to communicate with foreigners...and they can also learn some american culture... they can live by theirselves...But In my opinion the place to live for international students is not really important for them...the place to live is not influence their study so much... they can study everywhere... why not... Are there all the top students over the world live in homestay... of cause not... The place to live is just your interest... 囧...
